Purpose
To promote, encourage and educate on local, national and international levels in order to foster fellowship, interest and safe participation in the sport of soaring.
The Treasure Coast Soaring Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the goal
of promoting the sport and art of soaring to anyone interested in learning to fly sailplanes.
We highly encourage youths to come out and see what we’re about too. This way, we can help them understand the sport, and hopefully get them in to aviation related careers.
We have about 60 active members – Treasure Coast Soaring Club is growing
monthly as new members join. TCSC has a very democratic, participatory club with
the leadership shared by a group of elected leaders and specialty “chiefs”.
TCSC is an active chapter of the Soaring Society of America.
We are a friendly bunch – come on out and Visit Us!
About Soaring
Gliding is not only about gently drifting to the ground. Many glider pilots fly long cross country flights as well as participate in organized competitions.
Competitions involve a group of gliders flying the same task. This task is set as a series of turnpoints, or locations.Modern high performance gliders cruise between thermals at speeds in excess of 90 mph. When the thermals are strong, a good pilot can average more than 80 mph over a task of a several hundred miles! |
Our club was featured on the front cover of Soaring Magazine is June of 2017!!
our “Yellow Guerrilla” as it’s affectionately known! The work horse of our towing, a Piper PA-25 Pawnee that is painted a bright yellow.
